Congratulation on taking the first step to becoming a Pilot. Our Flight Schools PPL course will teach you everything you need to know to become a safe and skilled pilot.

The first step is to give us a call or email to set up your initial lesson. This lesson will take about 1.5 – 2 hours, we will discuss your goals and provide you with all the details of our course. You will take your first flight from the left (Pilots) seat with your Flight Instructor and will get to take the controls.

Our course is very flexible, most people that start out have other commitments and can only fly when they get the time. We completely understand this and will work with you to make your schedule work.

The training is all pay as you go. You don’t have to come up with a large amount of money up front. There is a discount on the Aircraft fee if you buy your flight time in 10 blocks, but it is not required.

Here are some frequently asked questions that may help.

How long will it take to get my License? This can vary widely depending on your schedule. If you can fly at least twice a week you can complete the course in about 5 months.

What airplane will I train in? We are currently use Cessna 172’s.. This is a 4 seat high wing single engine airplane that is one of most reliable and stable aircraft ever produced for flight training.

How long is my Pilot license good for? Your License will never expire but you will need to renew your medical certificate and complete a flight review with an instructor every 2 years. If you stop flying for 10 years, all you would need to do is renew your medical and get a flight review.

How much money do I need to get started? This one is a little hard to answer. We do not charge up front so you can pay as you go with all of your training. A typical lesson will be about 1 hour of flight time and about 15 – 30 minutes of ground.  A good budget to plan for would be anywhere from $500 to $1000 per month. In total you can expect to pay from $8200 to $10500 to complete your training.

What if I cannot fly very often? That is fine, there are time requirements for the training, you can fly/train at your own pace.

What are the Knowledge requirements? To complete the PPL course, you will be required to pass a written exam consisting of 60 questions. We offer an online ground school that you will work on at home. Your instructor will follow along with your progress and assign you lessons.

Are there any physical requirements? In order to get your License, you will be required to pass an FAA medical exam. The exam is very simple and does not take long. You do not have to have perfect eye sight or hearing to become a pilot. For more details on the medical requriements you can visit this site.

What can I fly after I get my License? As a Private Pilot completing our course, you will be licensed for any airplane under 12,500 pounds with a single engine. There are some additional endorsements that you will need for aircraft that have retractable landing gear, engines with more than 200 horsepower, or a tail wheel.

Can I do this training in my own Aircraft? Yes, students can purchase their own airplane to do their training in.

Can I make money with my new License? The short answer is, no, as a Private Pilot you will not be able to charge money for flying. You can take family and friends flying and travel to any location as long as you do not charge more than the pro rata share of the flight cost. To make money flying, you will need your commercial license. If you are thinking about a career in Aviation, then the PPL license is your first step. You will build your hours, ratings, and endorsements from there.

We welcome you to take a discovery flight and meet your instructor. There is no commitment to sign up for our course, you will get about an hour of flight time from the pilot seat and get to experience the thrill of flight. We will go over all the details of your training and answer any questions you may have.
